Let me introduce you to the most fun, happy and bright wedding ever today. This wedding will be sure to bring a spring to your step and a smile to your face.
Ian and Morena got hitched on the 31st July 2016 and held their reception at The White Hart pub in Manchester. They envisioned a big, multicoloured kids party complete with great tunes, food and drink. It looked amazing. There were joyous blooms, rainbow coloured bridesmaid dresses, sparklers and giant balloons to name a few. Everyone had a blast with the live band and games entertaining all.
Morena wore the loveliest polka dot dress by Oh My Honey, which she teamed with colour pop red pumps and wavy hair. Ian donned a vivid blue suit and red tie with a huge sunflower buttonhole for a pop of colour. This has really got me in the party mood.
Paul Joseph Photography, thank you so much for sharing these wonderful images with us.
THE VISION | A big, multicoloured kid’s party, but with Pimms, indie/ceilidh music and quality food instead of lemonade, the Okey Cokey and sausage rolls.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had 18 months to plan our wedding and tried to keep on top of everything, doing things bit by bit. If you nick enough ideas from other people’s weddings/parties/blogs and have lots of lovely helpful people around it shouldn’t get too stressful.
THE VENUE | The White Hart in Lydgate – awesome food, oak beams, massive dance floor for ceilidhing and beautiful views over the hills.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Polka dot, knee length, 50s style dress, tailor made by Oh My Honey.
FINDING THE DRESS | Morena told her friend Pom at work the type of thing she was after. The next day Pom came in and gave her the Oh My Honey catalogue. Sorted.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | How to wear a tweed suit in summer without breaking a sweat? Luckily Ian found a happy middle ground at Marc Darcy London (confusingly located in Manchester)! Plus rainbow ties for the groomsmen to fit the theme (red for Ian and the dads to tie football allegiances into the day).
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Entrance music: Neutral Milk Hotel – In the Aeroplane Over The Sea.
Ceremony signings music: SFA – Hello Sunshine, Regina Spektor – Us, Flaming Lips – Do You Realise.
Exit music: Sigur Ros – Inni.
Reading: Charles Darwin: Notes on Marriage.
Ceilidh music by Triple Scotch Ceilidh Band.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Sophie, Monique, Claire and Fran wore multicoloured dresses also made by Oh My Honey.
THE FLOWERS | Creative Floristry from Holmfirth aced our request for a range of bright coloured flowers.
THE CAKE | Inspired by Ian’s Eric Carle style stationery, Morena, her mum and the bridesmaids made and decorated the cake.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Paul and Kelly from Paul Joseph Photography – lovely, helpful and funny people who added a lot to our day. Big love!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Rainbow bunting made by Ian’s mum, jars of Lego and table quizzes to entertain the guests, giant colourful balloons, old family photos, table football and outdoor games. All set up by iCatching events.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | There’s too many to pick any individual ones; how could there not be when you’re spending a day with all your favourite people?!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Keep on top of things and have loads of fun planning the day but then when it comes to it, go with the flow; not everything will go exactly to plan but who cares when you’re enjoying the day so much!
